If you don’t look back at your car when you’re walking away from it, you’ve got the wrong car. We’d say the same thing about your tamper.
This is the Dialed Tamper. Attention to, and intention behind every detail. Heirloom quality—over the top in every way. We believe the best tools are works of art. They go beyond function to make a statement and speak to us on an emotional level.
We set out to create a tamper that whispers to you from your counter, begging you to pick it up and make espresso. Something you can feel the design intentionality behind when you use it, and of course, when you put it down and walk away, you can’t help but turn around and look back at it.

Scroll down for a deep dive into the details.
Our proprietary compound-radius piston profile is designed to accentuate the seal between the puck and the basket, while maintaining an even coffee bed. Plus it feels like a dream. 58.3 is the Goldilocks diameter—slightly oversized but not so much so that suction becomes an issue. Every radius, tolerance, and dimension was engineered with intent—drawn, measured, and refined until it performed exactly as designed.
This tamper feels like an extension of your hand. It’s a joy to use. The ergonomics and balance were achieved through disciplined iteration—removing material digitally through CAD modeling, then testing physical prototypes made with the actual production materials. This phase is where intuition is tested, obsession becomes measurable, and the perfect 50/50 weight balance, centered at the grip point, becomes real.
Every component of the three-piece design is CNC-machined from solid billet. All hardware is integrated into the design—no unnecessary floating bolts. The body is 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum. The cap and piston are 440C stainless steel, heat-treated to 60 HRC for high wear resistance. Accidentally getting a ding in your new favorite tool is a bummer, so we made the piston and cap unreasonably tough.
Our obsession with extremes continues. Before any color touches the surface, the raw machined aluminum part goes through a meticulous, multi-stage cleaning process. Degreasing. Etching. Deoxidizing. Each step strips the aluminum down to a chemically pure state.
After the base color is applied, select areas are carefully masked by hand, deliberately imprecise. Controlled chaos ensues, and every tamper receives its own mask pattern and with it, its own identity.
After masking, each handle goes through a series of processing baths and drying stations to cure the color and prep for the next color. The process continues laboriously, one color at a time, building up layers of masking and color. You can’t add multiple colors at once. This is not a digitally printed design—there are hours of work in each handle.
Finally, the mask is stripped. The surface is sealed, locking the color layers into the oxide structure. The result is breathtaking—a controlled collision of colors. Organic. Unrepeatable. Each handle pattern truly is a one of one.
