The Coffee Connection: 5 Great Ways To Experience Now!
With Father’s Day just around the corner, Artpresso Design wants to acknowledge and celebrate the coffee connection shared between fathers and coffee.
I wasn’t raised in the kitchen. In fact, my grandmother—who had a firm grip on tradition—never let me near the stove. I helped where I could, of course, but cooking wasn’t a role passed down to me.
What was passed down, though, was the joy of gathering—of sharing time, conversation, and care with the people you love.
It was my father who started the coffee making tradition. And somewhere along the way, I found my place in the kitchen through coffee.
The simple process of preparing an espresso stuck with me, and eventually became part of how I connect with others in my kitchen and why I started Artpresso Design.
These days, I consider myself a home barista—a term that’s grown in popularity as coffee lovers everywhere have taken the craft into their own hands.
It’s more than just making espresso at home; it’s about the process, precision, and pride behind every cup. My son David feels the same, and I hope one day my grandson will too.
Last month, I had the chance to visit the La Marzocco Accademia Del Caffe Espresso in Florence with my son and my 7-month-old grandson. La Marzocco isn’t just a manufacturer—they are a cornerstone of espresso history. With roots dating back to 1927, their machines represent a legacy of Italian craftsmanship, family tradition, and a deep respect for coffee as an experience.
To stand there—three generations of my own family—in that space was meaningful. My son dialed in a shot as I held my grandson near the espresso machine. I couldn’t help but think about the future. About how something as simple as making coffee can carry so much tradition, intention, and love.
Because that’s what it’s really about, isn’t it?
Not just caffeine. But the connection. The pause. The sense of purpose in creating something for someone you care about.
Home espresso has become a way for so many people to connect with their families, to slow down, to offer something made with their own hands. It’s not just a hobby—it’s a way of saying, you matter to me.
So this Father’s Day, I want to raise a cup to the dads who’ve made coffee their craft.
To the ones passing on more than technique—they’re passing on presence, patience, and the warmth and love of a caring home.
Here’s to the connection behind the counter.
Here’s to the love behind the espresso shot.
Happy Father’s Day.
